The short version: Habit's is a free habit tracker you use in your browser. There is no account to create, no advertising and no server-side database. What you track stays on your own device — we never receive your habits. The one external service we load is Google Analytics, used purely to count page views. This page explains the details in full.

1. Information we collect

We do not collect personal information about your habits. The app has no sign-up form, no login, no newsletter box and no contact form, so there is no channel through which we receive your name, email address or payment details. The contact page simply opens an email addressed to us; whatever you send is handled by you and your own email provider.

The only data we receive is the anonymous usage statistics described in section 3. Google Analytics 4 records which pages are viewed, roughly where the visitor came from and the browser and device used. It does not record the contents of your habits, and it cannot identify you as a person.

The app stores the following information locally, on your device:

2. Where your data is stored

Everything above is written to your browser's local storage under the keys habitflow-v2 (your habits) and habitflow-profile-v1 (your settings). Local storage belongs to the browser profile on the device you are using, and it is scoped to this website — it is never transmitted to us, because the site is a static page with no backend to receive it.

You stay in control of a copy at all times. Profile → Your data lets you download a JSON backup of your habits, restore it later, or clear everything. On Chrome and Edge you can also enable automatic file saving, which uses the browser's File System Access API to write changes to a file you choose on your device. The browser asks for your permission before that file is ever touched.

Deleting your habits permanently is simply a matter of clearing this site's data in your browser settings, or using the delete option in the app. Because no copy exists anywhere else, there is nothing left on our side to remove.

3. Third-party requests

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like every web host, Cloudflare processes standard request information — IP address, browser user agent and the page requested — for delivery and security purposes, in line with its own privacy policy. Those logs contain no habit data, because the pages delivered to everyone are identical static files.

The stylesheet requests three fonts (Caveat, DM Sans and Special Elite) from Google Fonts. That request sends your IP address to Google. If you would rather avoid it, browser extensions that block font requests will stop it without affecting the app.

We load Google Analytics 4 (the gtag.js script served from googletagmanager.com) on every page so we can see which pages are useful. It sends us page views, the referring site, and coarse device and browser details such as screen size, language and browser version. Google processes that data on our behalf under its own privacy policy, and it may be transferred outside your country — you can read Google's terms at policies.google.com/privacy.

Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies on this domain — _ga and _ga_TVEQGKPFC5 — to tell returning visitors apart and to throttle repeat requests. They hold only a random identifier and a timestamp, and they expire within two years. Blocking them, or using your browser's tracking protection, does not affect the habit tracker in any way.

Beyond that, Habit's loads no advertising network, no session-replay tool and no tracking pixel, and we set no third-party cookies ourselves. We do not run A/B tests on visitors, we do not fingerprint your device, and we do not use analytics data for advertising or to build audiences.

If you would rather not be counted, you can block googletagmanager.com and google-analytics.com in your browser, turn on your browser's tracking protection, use an extension such as uBlock Origin, or install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Deleting the two _ga cookies also removes the stored identifier, and the habit tracker keeps working normally either way.

4. Notifications

Reminder times use the browser's Notification API. Your browser asks for permission the first time a reminder is scheduled, and notifications are generated on your device — there is no push server involved. You can withdraw permission at any time from your browser's site settings.

5. What we never do

6. Retention and deletion

Your data lives for as long as you keep it in your browser. Clearing site data, using the app's delete controls, or removing your backup file removes it. The only records we hold are anonymous hosting logs kept briefly by Cloudflare for security and debugging, plus the aggregated page-view counts kept by Google Analytics, which are retained by Google for up to 14 months and can be deleted from the Google Analytics tool.

7. Children's privacy

Habit's is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect information from children. The anonymous page-view statistics described in section 3 are counted for every visitor and are not linked to any account or person. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through an email, write to us and we will delete it.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export or erase personal data held about you. Your habit data is never held by us, so those rights are exercised directly on your device: export your habits from Profile → Your data, or clear them from your browser. For the anonymised analytics data Google holds, use the Google Analytics tool at analytics.google.com to delete it, or email us and we will ask Google to remove it. To stop analytics on this device, block googletagmanager.com and google-analytics.com in your browser, delete the _ga cookies, or use the Analytics opt-out add-on linked in section 3. For any question about this policy, email us and we will answer plainly.

9. Changes to this policy

If the way the app handles data ever changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised. Continued use of the habit tracker after a change means you accept the revised policy; if you do not agree, stop using the site and clear your local data.
